Tidewater, Hampton Roads, by any name, the area known collectively as "the 757" is a breeding ground for producing some of the world's finest athletes. The area's rich tradition and history has created an almost mythical aura about what it means to compete in and to say "you are an athlete from the 757". The area is generally regarded as one of the country's top regions in the country for producing superior athletes, and is always a hotbed for college recruiters. Moreover, there is a tremendous pride within the Hampton Roads community and support of athletes who compete in and are from the 757.
